What would you give,
To control that blade of grass,
Time in your day,
Denver police, state patrol, federal police,**
Please step back,
And look at what you are protecting,
It is a war against the people,
A war over control,
A war of ego,
Simply to control a lawn,
Is your life, your health, your freedom worth it?*
Please step back, step aside,
Step in and join us,
Together let’s put people first,
And let the corporations serve the people or be voted out of existence.
I wrote this poem in response to the struggle for the lawn that occurred again today, October 29, 2011 in Denver. It is a crazy power struggle once again over a lawn area.
*So many times we waste our lives and risk everything by having a job that we do not believe in or even worse oppose what we are doing but we continue to do it because we need the money. It can even eat at our hearts so badly that we get sick.
**You could easily substitute in this line Iraq, Afganistan, etc., soldiers and US contractors.
